DTN COMMENTS: Bids are now on the table in parts of Kansas and Nebraska.
Some live asking prices have been reported in parts of Nebraska and are
around $260. In other major feeding states, asking prices remain very
elusive. Packer inquiries should continue to improve as the day
progresses. Having said that, it is possible that significant trade
volume could be delayed until sometime Friday.

The just released June 1 on feed report listed 11.7 million head, up 2%
from May 2025. Placements in May totaled 1.70 million head, 10% below
last year; marketings in May totaled 1.55 million head, 12% less than the
prior year; other disappearance in May totaled 55,000 head, 11% under the
same time last year.

Beef cutouts are lower at midday (choice 393.27 -1.23, select 374.98 -
2.28), with light box movement (26.26 lds of choice cuts, 7.94 lds of
select cuts, 4.70 lds of trim, and 3.46 lds of ground). Nearing the noon
hour live cattle are modestly to moderately lower, but feeder issues are
mostly modestly to moderately higher.

For the period ending June 11, beef net sales of 16,100 MT for 2026--a
marketing year-low--were down 31 percent from the previous week and 50
percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases primarily for China
(4,100 MT), Mexico (4,100 MT), Canada (2,300 MT), Japan (2,300 MT), and
South Korea (1,500 MT), were offset by reductions for the Philippines
(100 MT), Costa Rica (100 MT), Nicaragua (100 MT), and Vietnam (100 MT).
Exports of 30,000 MT were down 12 percent from the previous week and 9
percent from the prior 4-week average. The destinations were primarily to
Mexico (12,900 MT), Japan (5,400 MT), China (3,300 MT), South Korea
(2,200 MT), and Colombia (2,100 MT).
